When we first moved to Hawaii in 1996, Artur was two, Gaby was three and Monica was five.
Coming from cold winters of Edmonton, Alberta in Canada, we truly appreciated the beautiful weather, sandy beaches, and warm water Hawaii offered.
We bought a place in Hawaii Kai and enjoyed the convenience of having the schools, shops and Honolulu close by. One Sunday we decided to explore other parts of this beautiful island, and 45 minutes later, we discovered one of most beautiful secrets of Oahu – the Ko Olina Resort.
It was truly a paradise! I could relax under the palm trees and since the lagoons were calm, shallow and protected, my children spent hours playing in the ocean. Escapes to Ko Olina soon became our by weekly road trip and the 45 minute ride allowed us to bond as a family as our kids sang and played - it was such enjoyable time with them.
My family in 1996, enjoying some R&R at Ko Olina Resort.
At that time, there were only two communities in Ko Olina, the beautiful and exclusive Ihilani Hotel and Resort and the Ko Olina Fairways. When they started building Coconut Plantation townhomes in 2002, I had just received my real estate license. We went to their grand opening. The spacious units were priced in the mid $300s and the common areas, grounds and pool areas were beautiful!
18 Years Later, Ko Olina Looks Very Different
Over the years, many clients who were originally looking for property on other Islands have been charmed by Ko Olina, buying units in the projects as they were being built.
In 2008, Centex completed the Ko Olina Beach Villas. This unique luxury development lets you use the property as a full-time residence or vacation home or rental.
These exquisitely appointed private villa suites embody the Hawaiiana lifestyle with unsurpassed luxury. From distinctive stone floors and exotic wood trims to a kitchen plan endorsed by Master Chef Roy Yamaguchi, the Ko Olina Beach Villas Resort promises tranquility, privacy, and unmatched attention to detail.
I have several clients from Vancouver, Canada, Seattle, Washington and Moscow, Russia that bought Beach Villa units during the lottery in 2010 and feel they’ve made the right choice now that the resort is expanding.
The calm Ko Olina Lagoons are popular with locals and tourists.
Ko Olina - Wedding Destination
Ko Olina is also a very popular wedding destination as its expansive setting is reminiscent of more secluded neighbor island getaways. We spent so much time, and have such fond memories of playing on the shores of Ko Olina, that my eldest daughter, Monica, chose to get married at the Ihilani Hotel and Resort last year. The ceremony and reception were beautiful.
Ko Olina has wedding chapels, white sand beaches, sparkling ocean lagoons and beachfront lawns – and they’re all the perfect tropical backdrop for any sized ceremony. Whether you want to get married in an oceanside chapel, renew your vows in a beachfront wedding suite, or exchange private “I Dos” with your toes in the sand, Ko Olina is the perfect location.
The price range of homes, vacation rentals and investments in Ko Olina start around the mid $500s, so there is an opportunity to buy your piece of paradise on the beach. Centex is selling the remainder of their inventory. But they do sell quickly, so contact me if you are interested!
